feeling so depressed

I have had Ibs c and d since my teens. I hate not being able to eat normal food. I went to a luncheon with some friends last week and someone brought cherries which I haven't had in years. I thought a few would not hurt me. Well let me tell you I paid for it the next morning, went to the bathroom 3 times before I left for church services. Then had to go 2 more times during the services, thought I would have to cancel afternoon plans but luckily I felt better by noon. Whenever I go somewhere and they serve salad I have to say no thanks. People do not understand why and I feel like such a freak. No one understands why I am so picky about what I eat. How do you handle this.

  1. Getting friends and family to understand can be a tough, ! Many in the community have gone through this, so you're not alone. We have a couple of articles that I hope can give you some pointers on how to handle this: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/coping-family-friends/ & https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/dfd/. No matter what, this community will understand! Take care. - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team

    1. Thank you Chris. These are really good articles. I guess most people don't believe you are having problems if you don't look sick. It has made me be more understanding of other peoples issues and not judgemental.
