Lifetime

My IBS actually started in infancy, referred to as spastic colon in those days. As a young child I had problems every year when school started with a stomach ache which I now know was stress induced IBS. During my twenties and early thirties I seemed to have a break until diverticulitis hit in my late thirties and ended up with a bowel resection after being in hospital 3 times in one year for a week at a time. By the way, doctors don't tell you that operation brings on early menopause. Again I experienced another break having infrequent bouts of IBS.

Now in my early sixties I seem to have constant problems with IBS. One of the biggest problems is extreme bloating and trying to find clothes to accommodate the huge belly and not knowing when it may hit. Then the debilitating fatigue that follows, missing work, etc. Very difficult for my boyfriend to understand that I am fine one minute and not the next without him seeing any triggers.

Prayers to all afflicted by this condition.
