have you ever felt your intestines move? or non painful pressure?

question for the community: as an IBS sufferer have you ever felt as if you can feel your intestines moving? for women, it would feel similar to a baby moving while pregnant. it isn't painful, but I feel as if there is pressure and I can feel it moving. I just wondered if this is a symptom that I have had, or if others have also.

  1. That's interesting, @jessica.phelps. We've heard people speak about non painful pressure before in other parts of their body, like in this Q&A: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/q-and-a/pressure-rectum/. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team

    1. Yes. I’ve had this sensation.
Three years ago I had a colonoscopy as my bowels were misbehaving.

I was told I had a tortuous colon, which basically means it’s extra long and more twisted.

So imagine the weird sensation (like a baby moving) is the extra long colon

      1. Wow, I had no idea that was possible! Did you find anything to calm your symptoms? Karina (team member)

    2. Hi
      Thanks for reply.
I have no pain with the weird sensation we both mentioned. I don’t worry about it as I know what is causing it and it’s nothing ‘nasty’

      1. I also have this occasionally. You can actually see the stomach, bowel area move. I haven't worried about it as I guessed it was the bowel as it's inflamed

        1. Did you ever mention this to your doctor and if yes, what did they say? For me personally, sensations like this usually occur due to gas. Karina (team member)
