Does dehydration make IBS symptoms worse?

I haven’t been diagnosed with IBS yet. I have all the symptoms but have just been referred to GI specialist. I have diarrhea nearly every day and feel nauseous. I am terrible at drinking enough water and just wondered if anyone has experienced not drinking enough making these symptoms worse?

I’m in the same boat. Haven’t been diagnosed with IBS exactly until they can rule out some pancreatic disease and a few other things. Cat scan was pretty inconclusive. Was put on some meds for spastic colon which only works sometimes. Really wish they had a way to test for it. Nothing worse then not having a true diagnosis. Not happy with my gastro guy. Never called back with scan results, never gave me anything for my pain. I had to call his office to get answers. Was then told he wants to see me in a month. Really? For what? I’ve already had tests up the wazoo with no clear answers. This may be the last time I go see him. May be time to get a second opinion.

Thanks Chris. I made sure I drank loads today and my symptoms did seem better. Although not sure if that is a coincidence. I have lost quite a bit of weight and now managed to get an urgent referral. I know why they have done that but it appears there is no real diagnosis of IBS apart from ruling everything else out first.
