What's your typical day in the life with IBS?

  1. I take an ACACIA fiber powder with banana every AM, again late afternoon or with dinner if there is something to mix it in. I have 1 1/2 cp coffee. I drink water all day, mint tea that I make and try to follow my IBS diet criteria as much as possible. 1/2 hr exercise every other day or more. Relaxation techniques.

    1. That's great, janie! It sounds like this routine has helped! We'd love to hear more about how you arrived at this routine. 2. I been told I have IBS but never had ant tests to prove it.
I got constipated and 5 different Drs ignored me one sent to a psychiatrist.
It turn out I had an impaction and a fissure..
I went to the ER about 21 times each time I only got enemas and sent home .
This went on from August 19 to Sept 28.
Finally my family Dr sent me to a colorectum Dr .I had wait a month to see him.
He did surgery on my fissure and discovered my impact but he added water to it to break and it didn't break a week later he did a procedure to remove it .
Now it's been 2 1/2 months I developed gastritis right the procedure first two months were hell.
Horrible pain and nausea throwing up all day .
Two weeks ago my pain is more or less gone , nausea has been gone for 23 days .
My problems now my bowel.movements yesterday I went 6 times today gone only two times worried I. Constipated .
Just took prune juice muxed with apple juice .
Last night. To metamucil with hope of having just one large bowel.movement .
I don't go out much I spend my days in the bathroom!
Thought the whole ordeal I lost 60 pounds !!

    1. Here's my typical day with IBS-M. When I wake up, I drink 16 oz. of water. I don't really want to, but it helps push down the acid since I have GERD. It also helps with my digestion. I don't dare eat breakfast until I have arrived at work, and I keep an emergency kit (changes of clothes, wet wipes, adult diaper, disposable bags) both in my vehicle and at work.

Breakfast is a handful of almonds and a piece of fruit if I'm feeling well enough to eat. I sip chamomile tea all morning and water all afternoon and evening. I will eat lunch on days that I am not having diarrhea. I try to eat enough vegetables to get my fiber, and I like to sprinkle ground flaxseed onto some foods for extra fiber. I used to drink Metamucil 30 minutes before dinner, but now it seems to actually cause my constipation to worsen. Dinner is my big meal of the day because I am near my own bathroom and feel safe to eat. I make sure to not eat to satiety, though, and to finish at least three hours before bedtime, or I will go to sleep fighting nausea.

I go to sleep as early as I'm able because there's always a possibility that I will awaken in pain and be up for hours making multiple visits to the bathroom.
